Get healthy and go green at the 2010 Organic Expo & Green Show

There are seemingly a gazillion expos out there but this one really stirred my interest.

The Organic Expo & Green Show - on this Friday August 20 (the 'trade only' day) through to Sunday August 22 at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre at Darling Harbour - is perfect timing for those wanting to explore options to get healthy before spring/summer kicks in, as well look into ideas to adopt a greener way of life.

With over 180 exhibitors and appearances from celeb chefs including Kylie Kwong and Tobie Puttock - they will be doing food tastings and cooking demos - greenies, health nuts, and foodies will be thrilled.

Now in its sixth year, there looks to be something for everyone at this year’s event including the latest advances in all-natural beauty treatments, gardening tips and organic wine to try. Hic... count me in.

This year’s Organic Expo & Green Show theme is ‘Paddock to Plate’ so it's brilliant that visitors can watch cooking demos - by chefs including Kylie and Tobie - on how to feed the family without blowing the budget by choosing food that is fresh, in season and produced with care.

The Expo is cleverly divvied into seven natural living categories: Food & Beverage / Wine / Mother, Baby, Kids / Building, House and Garden / Health, Personal Care & Beauty / Professional Services / Fashion & Manchester.

Attractions include:

• For kids: The Organic Kids’ Fun Zone is back with baby farmyard animals to pet, veggies to plant and creepy crawlies from the garden to learn about. The ‘Dig Your Dinner’ school competition entrants will also be proudly displayed at the show.

• For foodies: celebrity chefs Kylie Kwong, Tobie Puttock, Simon Lawson and Samantha Gowing will be at the demonstration stage cooking up feasts and showing how easy it is to eat organically every day.

• For green thumbs: gardening gurus Jerry Coleby-Williams and Costa Georgiadis will be on hand to impart garden tips and tricks.

• For beauty buffs: sample luxurious pampering treatments and shop up an organic storm, while beauty expert Carla Oates reveals how to custom-blend your own skincare products from ingredients in your fridge. Always wanted to do that!

• For wine lovers: one word: tastings. All day at The Organic Vineyard.

• For home makers: There’s a huge selection of sustainable homewares, building and garden products to deck your house out like a green oasis.
